Supermoons, micromoons and blue moons

The Moon's orbit is an ellipse, so its distance at full moon ranges from about 356,000 to 406,000 km. There is no official definition of a supermoon; this page marks a full moon closer than 360,000 km as a supermoon and one farther than 405,000 km as a micromoon, and prints every distance so you can apply your own cut-off. A supermoon looks around 14% wider than a micromoon — real, but hard to notice without a side-by-side photo.

A blue moon has two meanings. The popular one is the second full moon in a single calendar month; the older one is the third of four full moons in an astronomical season. Both are marked above. Neither is blue.

Astrologically, a full moon falls in the sign opposite the Sun and lights up whatever sits near that degree in your chart. Compare the degrees above with your free natal chart.

That was the sky. This is your sky.

Everything above is true for everyone. These three are true only for you — and all free.
